Compensation for this position ranges from $35 - $45 per hour depending on experience. 

Responsibilities

  • Cardiac sonographers conduct echocardiograms, or ultrasound imaging, to determine different aspects of the heart such as chamber size, valve function and blood flow. They review patient files and have to familiarize themselves with specific cardiac problems to detect and recognize any irregularities
  • Set up ultrasound equipment, attaches electrodes to patient chest and equipment, and documents cardiac data and measurements.
  • Prepares patients by positioning, spreading gels, attaching electrodes to chest and equipment, verifying wave signals, and recording images.
  • Interview patients and reviews medical records to adapt sonographic techniques. Provides patient care, which includes preparing patients for sonographic imaging and providing instructions. Performs echocardiography on treadmill patients to assess heart functions.
  • Maintain equipment and inventories, restocks supplies, reviews patient schedules, sets up recording equipment, and enters patient information into appropriate systems.
  • Maintain job knowledge up to date by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organizations. Maintains patient confidence and protects operations by keeping information confidential.
  • Maintaining certifications and logs of cardiac medications
  • Review stress test consent forms with the patient for better understanding
  • Assist with cardiology authorizations and clearances for various locations
  • Travel to branch locations for cardiology scheduled days

Qualifications

  • One-year experience as ultrasound technologist preferred
  • Ability to handle and operate equipment, read, retain, and comprehend written and oral medical and technical information.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with physicians, patients, associates, and other departments
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office applications
  • Must have experience using an EMR system
  • BLS Certified
  • Bachelor of Science Degree / ARRT Certified or graduated from a certified school of Ultrasonography.
  • ARDMS or ARRT/Sonography certification in cardiology required within one year.
  • Specific registration in Vascular preferrered
