Responsibilities

  • • Set up and calibrate polysomnographic equipment.
    • Prepare patients for sleep studies by attaching monitoring devices such as electrodes.
    • Monitor real-time data during sleep studies to ensure equipment is functioning properly.
    • Document observations and patient responses during sleep tests.
    • Analyze and interpret polysomnographic data.
    • Generate detailed reports based on study findings for review by physicians.
    • Provide patient education on sleep disorders and treatments.
    • Maintain and troubleshoot equipment as needed.
    • Ensure patient comfort and safety throughout the sleep study.
    • Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to develop effective treatment plans.
    • Follow established protocols and guidelines for conducting sleep studies.
    • Assist with the administration of sleep questionnaires and evaluations.

Qualifications

Education, Licensure or Certification:
• Associate’s degree in polysomnography, health sciences, or a related field.
• Certified Polysomnographic Technologist (CPSGT) or Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT)
certification.
• Completion of an accredited polysomnography training program.
• Valid state licensure, if applicable.
• Current BLS or CPR certification
Work Experience or Related Experience:
• Experience working in a clinical or hospital setting.
Specialized Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent patient care and communication abilities.
• Proficiency with polysomnographic equipment and software.
• Familiarity with sleep disorders and treatment methods.
• Strong technical and mechanical aptitude for handling equipment.
• Attention to detail and accuracy in data collection and analysis.
• Good interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients and healthcare team.
• Basic understanding of human physiology and sleep medicine.
• Ability to remain calm and focused under pressure
