How you'll serve our patients: 

The Plastic Surgery Nurse Practitioner (NP) provides advanced clinical care, patient education, and support throughout the continuum of cosmetic and reconstructive procedures. Working in collaboration with the surgeons and the multidisciplinary team, the NP delivers comprehensive preoperative and postoperative care with a focus on safety, quality outcomes, and exceptional patient experience. The NP serves as both a clinical provider and a key liaison between patients, staff, and leadership—promoting a unified, patient-centered environment aligned with the organization’s mission and standards of excellence.

The compensation range is $100,000.00 to $130,000.00 salary based on experience. 

 

Responsibilities

  • Conduct pre-operative evaluations and assessments for plastics surgery candidates
  • Takes initial patient histories and performs physical examinations
  • Initiates, documents, and communicates the plan of care and follows up to ensure complete screening and preparation of patients
  • Writes orders for medications, laboratory work, and diagnostic tests
  • Interprets laboratory and test results
  • Provide comprehensive education and counseling to patients regarding surgical options, pre-operative preparation, and post-operative care
  • Educates patients on medication and instructions
  • Collaborate with the surgical team to develop individualized treatment plans for patients
  • Confers with attending physicians, residents, nursing staff, and/or other care providers to ensure optimum quality of patient care
  • Apply advanced knowledge of skincare and esthetic techniques to support patient consultations, treatment execution, and post-procedure care.
  • Leverage esthetician expertise to provide high-quality aesthetic services, ensuring patient safety, satisfaction, and optimal treatment outcomes.
  • Perform post-operative follow-up visits and monitor patients' progress
  • Notes discharge summaries, prescriptions, and any referrals on patient charts
  • Informs patients of the necessary post-discharge care instructions
  • Assist in the management of complications and provide support to patients as needed
  • Performs related duties as required
  • Perform comprehensive patient assessments, including medical history, physical examination, and documentation in the EMR.
  • Assist in preoperative consultations—educating patients about surgical options, expectations, risks, and postoperative recovery.
  • Manage postoperative care, including wound assessments, dressing changes, drain management, and pain control.
  • Prescribe medications and order diagnostic tests in accordance with state and institutional regulations.
  • Evaluate and manage postoperative complications under the guidance of the attending surgeon.
  • Provide patient education on pre- and postoperative care, scar management, and lifestyle modifications to optimize healing and results.
  • Collaborate with surgeons, medical assistants, RNs, and front office staff to ensure continuity and quality of care.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate clinical documentation in compliance with professional and regulatory standards.
  • Participate in quality assurance initiatives, patient safety programs, and workflow improvement efforts.
  • Serve as a clinical resource for staff and assist with training on postoperative protocols and patient communication.

Qualifications

Education, Licensure or Certification: 

  • Master’s Degree in a Nurse Practitioner Program and National Board Certification in a specialty area required
  • Current license to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in the state of practice, and current license to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in the state of practice, required
  • Current BLS certification, required
  • Bachelor’s Degree, required
  • Graduate of an accredited (Accreditation Review Committee for Physician Assistant Programs ARC-PA) program, required

Work Experience or Related Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working in plastic surgery or a related field is preferred
  • Minimum of 1 year of clinical practice as an Esthetician prior to or in addition to NP experience is preferred

Specialized Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: 

  • Experience with EHR/Billing with a preference for candidates that experience in AdvancedMD
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • The ability to be proactive and self-directed utilizing good time management, decision-making, and organization skills is required. Incumbents must be able to prioritize multiple tasks
  • Must have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
